School Links

One of the aims of ELMS is to ensure that the experiences of the WW2 escapers and evaders are never forgotten and that the ‘helpers’ are remembered and recognised for their selfless actions and unwavering courage and support. The friendships forged between evaders and their helpers, people of different nationalities and different lifestyles, have lasted to this day. School Links are one way that ELMS can help to remember and to maintain those bonds. Links with the WW2 generation and links between ‘the next generations’ of the WW2 Allied countries.

School Links are one way that ELMS can help to remember and to maintain those bonds. Links with the WW2 generation and links between ‘the next generations’ of the WW2 Allied countries. Twinning – Why not link your school with one in a different country, and set up a pen friend system?41 ELMS has ‘twinned’ several schools in former WW2 Allied Countries, enabling the pupils to practise their language skills and to learn about life and lifestyles in other countries. This can work well in many school departments: Languages, English, History, Geography, Maths. All we ask is that you take the time to let us know how you are doing and provide us with examples of your work so we can share your progress with our members – via our Young ELMS Scrap Book, Newsletter and Web pages.21ELMS Talks – ELMS have several members (including veterans) who offer their time and experience to schools, clubs and organisations, by providing talks and lectures. If you are interested and require further details, please contact the Secretary
