The ELMS Annual Reunion

The ELMS Annual Reunion and Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance for the work of the Escape Lines, takes place during the last week-end of April each year.

The Reunion is based in a major hotel in York and attended by an international gathering of veterans [escapers, evaders and helpers]; their families, friends and other members; representatives of military organisations; and ambassadorial representatives from the Allied countries of WW2.

The main events take place over the week-end, although some members wish to make the occasion into a short holiday, arriving several days early, so some visits are arranged during the preceding week to local places of interest – usually with a military theme – for those who wish to participate.

The Friday evening is given over to an informal dinner in order for members to renew old friendships and acquaintances and to make new ones.

On Saturday members are transported to Eden Camp Museum for the ELMS Thanksgiving and Remembrance Parade and Service, in front of the ELMS Helper Memorial. This is followed by lunch and the AGM. The formal Reunion Dinner is held in the evening, back at the hotel in York.
